It may be that there are as many different ways of seeing spirituality as there are people in the world. I believe that there are absolute truths that we will inevitably each see differently. One of the biggest issues is probably the question of whether or not there is a God. Jews, Christians, Moslems and Hindus all worship an omnipotent God while Buddhists and Taoists see the Absolute as more of a state of consciousness. David Goddard, in his book Tree of sapphires puts it like this: ‘There are potential drawbacks to thinking of the Supreme Reality as either a person or a state. Because all images are concepts based on finite experience…In conceiving the Absulute as a person, you embrace the idea, in your subconscious, that some things may be given or withheld by that person – that some beings are favoured and others not. On the other hand, when you conceive of the One Reality as a state, you imply that there is no personal relationship and that you must reach it unaided by the ineffable, solely by your own efforts.’
Many people brought up in a Christian tradition have great issues with the idea of God: often because God is represented as an old man with a white beard, people are supposed to have been created in God’s image and Jesus was the son of God. So God must be a man, or woman, right? If this has been an issue that has led to doubts about what to believe, then just let them go. These traditional Christian beliefs and phrases are rooted in deep, mystical truth that has been conveyed as best it can to people so that they can have a focus for spiritual direction. They are not literal.
In this article I talk of God because I believe in a Creator. I believe that the Universe, from the physical plane to the highest planes of consciousness and everything therein – every star and consciousness, is a manifestation of God. I also believe in God the unmanifest – the Divine Creator. I also see God as loving all things unconditionally, which means equally. But these are my beliefs, and maybe not yours. Many mystics believe that the Absolute is something that can never be understood by the human mind – we can only start to glimpse suggestions of it in our moments of deepest meditation and greatest love. This subject is important to you because it is fundamental to the general direction of your prayers, meditations, healing and personal progression. It is important that you aim for the Most High, the Absolute, God, the Divine, however you conceive of this. And the more you try to connect with the Divine through meditation and prayer and the greater your intent that your life is guided by the Most High, the more sure you can be that your life is going in the right direction.
We are each a part of our higher self, spirit or consciousness that is the greater part of us. Only a small part of our higher self is incarnated as our soul because the higher self is too vast a consciousness to fit into a human soul. Our higher selves are conscious of everything that our souls are and are guiding and experiencing the learning of our souls. However, our higher selves do not generally have the fear or pain that our souls do, depending upon their growth - their degree of love and wisdom – their degree of consciousness. But generally we can consider our higher selves as perfect, however small or great they are. Each of our higher selves is guided by ever greater consciousnesses to learn and grow – to become more loving and wise and become one with God.
Your challenge in this life is to accept that you are a part of the Divine, align yourself with it and become ever more integrated with it. When you align your mind and develop your love to coincide with your higher self and with God not only do you become healthy and happy but your higher self grows as well.
Your soul is the part of your consciousness that is incarnated and your chakras are the main centres of the consciousness of your soul. Each chakra has a consciousness of its own and chakras really are the seats of your consciousness. During the learning process of our souls over many lifetimes we may encounter challenges that last for more than one lifetime and so some fears may be deeply routed in our consciousness, yet not known of by our minds. With practice we are able to concentrate on a chakra in a meditative fashion and communicate with it. It is possible to find out from a chakra and from our divine guidance what the conflicting attitudes and beliefs are there and are causing problems within a chakra or are causing a confused relationship between two chakras. Problems will be evident in chakras before they manifest physically, so it is on the chakras that healing is concentrated.
Through an understanding of the chakras we can gain insight into not just ourselves but also the universe since we are a true microcosm of the universe. We are beautifully crafted so that we can truly be a reflection of the Divine. Understanding the way that our chakras work gives us insight into ourselves and all things.
Our souls learn and grow through many incarnations and become ever more loving, wise and conscious until they grow beyond the need to reincarnate. It is not necessary for us to know what our souls are here to do but it is for us to learn to trust that our soul is guided by our spirit that is guided by God. It is through the vast array of experiences of planet Earth, through many lifetimes that our souls learn to be rid of fear and grow ever more loving and wise; closer to our true divine nature.
Every thought, word, deed, feeling and emotion of your life is experienced by your higher self and God and is recorded by your Guardian Angel in the Akashic records. You are not judged, you are just loved, completely unconditionally and there is nothing that you can do to stop that. Every person is surrounded by an abundance of love and guidance and we can accept as much or as little of it as we like.
We have been given free will to think any thoughts that we choose and this is not taken away from us by our souls or spirits but the mind is a part of our consciousness and our conscious and subconscious thoughts may reflect the love, fear, wisdom and ignorance of our souls. Our thoughts may also be affected by our higher selves and divine guidance if we wish them to be. If you intend that you are divinely helped and guided in every aspect of your life then this will be so and you may have thoughts or ideas that come into your mind from your divine guidance.
Our conscious thoughts become a very real manifestation of our consciousness – they create a conscious reality on the mental planes that can have an effect on our consciousness on other planes. This means that in a way our thoughts can become reality. If we want our lives to be filled with love, wisdom, success and happiness and we think about these then they are more likely to come about than if we think to the contrary. If we meditate on these things and feel this intent through our whole consciousness then they are even more likely to come to fruition.
We can more easily take control over our conscious thoughts than we can over other parts of our consciousness so it is worthwhile practicing controlling our thoughts to make them as positive as possible. Our free will is a great gift that can be used to tremendous advantage for ourselves and others. It is through our free will that we can have an immense effect on our consciousness and potentially attain enlightenment in a single lifetime.
Your mind is free in that you have the choice of thinking any thought that you like, any time you want. But the thoughts that come in to your mind may be affected by many different factors, notably:
So your will is free, but with influences upon it which can be overcome or ignored and you can ultimately choose what to think, say and do.
Your life is planned so that you will have the experiences that your soul needs in order to learn and grow more loving and wise. Your Spirit Guides have more loving and wise (more conscious) Spirit Guides who have more conscious Spirit Guides and so on. The greater (more conscious) that a consciousness (a spirit) is, the more that they can see and predict. The greater the consciousness, the less there is time or space. So the greater consciousnesses around the Earth that guide humans know and see so much that they can predict almost exactly what we will do, before we do it. Even with 6 billion people on the planet with free will, the greater consciousnesses around us know what any one of us will do at any instant and know exactly how things are going to work out, way into the future.
Through your intent to be loving, wise and happy you can make conscious choices that guide you in the right direction and through your intent and thoughts you can guide your soul to a better and higher place. Through being mindful (aware of your conscious thoughts) you can get into the habit of thinking positive and loving thoughts that will in turn have a positive effect on your subconscious mind, on your soul and on the whole of your consciousness.
